Project
Cash for Relief, Economic Social Asset Creation & Education Days, W//H
Description
Objective: Address conditions of extreme poverty, asset depletion, and continuing malnutrition, CARE will implement a large scale cash based relief project in Guba Koricha Woreda of West Hararghe Zone. T
Through this project, CARE will support 7,000 families or 42,000 persons, equal to 23% of the total population. CARE used this opportunity to pilot and assess the impact of direct cash transfers as a method for relief in the Ethiopian context, and to pilot a new concept of Economic and Social Asset Creation (ESAC) schemes to broaden the scope of activities now carried out under EGS programs including community education, labor and non-labor social contributions to community improvement.
